New stuff

6x6 paintings
I've been working on a series of small paintings done in a more whimsical style. The wide gallery-wrapped canvases are painted gold on the sides and sizes range from 5x5 inches to 12x12 inches. One series is of foxes in the different seasons of the year, another is of stylized cats sleeping on fancy pillows. I'm also working on small landscape paintings. I think these smaller pieces will be fun to bring to shows—easier to pack and also I want to create art that is more affordable to a wide range of people.

I've been doing other paintings too—a snow scene which I may do another version of as a horizontal, and our farm house on laundry day. It's titled "Monday at Myrtle's" because Monday is wash day and Myrtle was the lady who lived here before we did. The misty hay bales in the morning light is one of my favorite subjects. Each year in late summer, I look forward to the hay being mowed and baled. The arrangement of the bales is always different and the landscape is so interesting with these huge bales scattered across it. Early morning and late evening create some pretty wonderful effects with light and shadow.

Monique,

I love your new whimsical paintings. One of my favorites has always been "The Fox Went Out". "Monday at Myrtle's" is fabulous too, and I just happen to be the fortunate owner of one of your hay bale paintings. You just keep getting better and more versatile.
