Cat of the Month—Ginger
April 3rd, 2009
I thought about saying I’d run out of cats, so no more Cat of the Month entries—April Fools. I wish. However, that not being the case—Ginger, Freddy’s sister, is Cat of the Month for April. Ginger is a sweet, silly, marshmallow of a cat. Where Freddy is all tension and muscle, she is all softness.
When they were younger, Fred and Ginger stuck together, now they’re pretty independent. It amazes me that when they were feral kittens living outside, they disappeared for two weeks, lost their mother, and somehow found their way back to our barn. Then after all the trauma they had been through (Freddy’s jaw was horribly injured), they gave over their trust to us completely.
Ginger loves to do that weaving around your legs thing, and then collapses on the floor and rolls around for a belly rub. If I didn’t know she was spayed, I’d think she was in heat, as silly as she can get. She will also put on an act for eggs—which she gets as a treat now and then. I call her the Kitchen Cat, because that’s usually where she hangs out.
